Appalachian at heart, Ryan took his professional training in Landscape Architecture from University of Georgia, where he received a BLA in the spring of 2005. In school, he developed a view of the urban landscape as the locus of social and cultural engagement, performing research on the adaptation of historic urban forms to contemporary human uses. Out of school, he migrated north to Chicago to begin his career: eventually moving beyond the city limits to practice Landscape Architecture situated within a regional human ecology. Ryan recently completed a certificate in Socially Responsible Design at Archeworks: Chicago’s Alternative Design School. As an Assistant Designer with CDF, Ryan is developing his understanding of healthy, feasibly constructed landscapes, and continues to provide support and clarity on a range of technical, graphic and exploratory projects. In his non-work time, Ryan cycles around and out of Chicago as often as possible, absorbing the character of the region.
